The MR-960504 is an 8P8C top-entry modular jack — the connector generally known as RJ45 — for through-hole mounting on a printed circuit board.
Top entry means the mating plug enters from above the board rather than across the board edge. That suits designs where the network port faces the top face of the enclosure, and designs where the board edge is already committed to other connectors and there is no room left for an edge-entry jack.
8P8C jacks carry Ethernet and structured-cabling connections in networking hardware, industrial controls, telecom equipment, access control and building systems. Micro-Ray builds the MR-960 modular jack series in top, side and front entry variants, and in 4P4C, 6P6C and 8P8C contact arrangements, so a board can be laid out around the orientation that fits rather than around what happens to be available.
