Metal Shielding Braid

Micro-Ray lists 96 metal braid sleevings for EMI and RFI shielding and grounding, in tinned copper, bare copper, stainless steel and silver plate.

What is in this range

• Silver-plated copper braid (MBS series) where low contact resistance and easy soldering matter
• Tinned copper braid (MBN series) for general shielding and ground straps
• Bare copper braid (MBC series)
• Stainless steel braid (SSN and SSL series) for abrasion and heat rather than conductivity
• Expandable shielding sleeving (FSN series) that opens to slip over a harness already built
• Static-dissipative sleeving (CNN series) for ESD-sensitive looms

How to choose

• Sizes in this range run from 1/16 in. to 2 in. nominal. Braid expands, so pick the nominal size nearest the bundle and let it close down over the ends.
• Match the metal to the job: silver plate for conductivity and soldering, tinned copper for cost, stainless steel for heat and abrasion.
• Settle how the braid will be terminated – solder, crimp ring or clamp – before fixing the size.
