DC Gearmotors

Molon DC parallel shaft gearmotors: 40 models in 12 and 24 VDC, from 0.4 to 50 RPM and up to 150 in-lb of rated torque. Used in vending equipment, dispensers, gates, augers and light conveyors.

The two series on this page

• CHM Series — 15 models. Permanent magnet parallel shaft gearmotors, 12 and 24 VDC, 1.2 to 50 RPM, 10 to 50 in-lb. The general purpose range.
• CEM Series — 5 models. The high-torque range, 0.4 to 29 RPM, 43 to 150 in-lb, with 12 VDC and 12/24 VDC windings.

How to read the part number

In CHM-2409-1M, CHM is the frame, 24 is the nominal voltage, 09 is the output speed in RPM and the suffix identifies the gear train and shaft variant. So CHM-1250-1M is a 12 VDC motor at 50 RPM, and CEM-1201-2M is a 12/24 VDC motor at well under 1 RPM with 150 in-lb available.

Choosing a gearmotor

• Voltage — 12 VDC or 24 VDC. Several CEM models are wound for either.
• Speed — pick from the published output RPM rather than gearing down a faster motor; the ratio is built into the part number.
• Torque — the rated figure is in the product title in in-lb. Size for the worst case in your cycle, not the average.
• Duty — tell us the on-time and cycles per hour. Continuous duty and short intermittent bursts size differently even at the same torque.
