The MR-960502 is a top-entry 6P6C modular jack, the six-position body used for RJ11 and RJ12 wiring, for mounting on a printed circuit board.
Top entry means the mating plug enters from above the board rather than across the board edge. That suits designs where the port faces the top face of the enclosure, and designs where the board edge is already committed to other connectors.
Six-position jacks are used for telephone and voice wiring, serial links and control connections in telecom, building and instrumentation equipment.
