MIL Connectors

MIL connectors in the MIL-DTL-5015 style: 21 circular connectors, MS3116 straight plugs and MS3112 box mount receptacles, in shell sizes 8 through 24 with 4 to 32 contacts. Supplied under Micro-Ray part numbers, for industrial use.

Types in this range

Nine of the ten box mount receptacles carry PCB solder-tail contacts for panel-mounted boards. All 21 sit in the 26482 sub-category.

How to choose a MIL connector

• Shell size sets the coupling thread: 5/8-24 UNEF on shell 8, 3/4-20 UNEF on 10, 13/16-20 UNEF on 12, 7/8-20 UNEF on 14, 1-20 UNEF on 16, 1-1/16-18 UNEF on 18, 1-3/16-18 UNEF on 20, 1-5/16-18 UNEF on 22 and 1-7/16-18 UNEF on 24.
• Contact count and insert arrangement: a plug and a receptacle mate only when shell size, insert arrangement and contact gender all match. Each part page lists all three.
• Contact gender: P at the end of the part number is pin contacts, S is socket contacts.
• Mounting: the MS3116 plug goes on the cable, with a cable clamp backshell taking the strain; the MS3112 box mount receptacle fits the panel or enclosure wall.

Are these military qualified connectors?

No. They follow the MIL-DTL-5015 style but are sold for industrial use, with no military certification.

What do P and S mean in the part number?

P is pin contacts and S is socket contacts. MR-MS3112-20-27P is a shell 20 box mount receptacle with 27 pin contacts.

Can you wire them into a cable assembly?

Yes. Micro-Ray builds the cable assemblies these connectors terminate, standard and custom cables to your print, in Brick, New Jersey.
