Crimp Terminals

Crimp terminals end a stranded wire so it can be bolted, screwed or pushed onto a stud, screw or tab. Micro-Ray lists 573 crimp terminals and lugs across ten families, from insulated ring and fork terminals for panel wiring up to copper tubular and bimetal lugs for feeder and switchgear cable. Please call for pricing and availability.

What is in this range

  • Fork and Spade Terminals – 178 parts. Open-tongue terminals that slide under a screw already in place, so a wire can be changed without removing the screw.
  • Hook, Pin and Blade Terminals – 87 parts. Pin and blade ends for spring clamp and push-in terminal blocks; hook ends for screw terminals that must not drop the wire.
  • Ring Terminals – 78 parts. Closed tongue, the choice wherever vibration or safety inspection rules out an open tongue.
  • Quick Disconnects – 68 parts. Male and female tab terminals for push-on connections to switches, relays and motors.
  • Electrical Terminals – 64 parts. General purpose insulated and non-insulated terminals for panel and chassis work.
  • DIN Terminals – 48 parts. Terminal sizes and tongue widths intended for DIN rail terminal blocks and European panel practice.
  • Bimetal Lugs – 16 parts. Aluminium barrel to copper palm, for terminating aluminium cable onto a copper bus or stud.
  • Copper Tubular Lugs – 15 parts. Heavy seamless copper barrels for feeder, battery and switchgear cable.
  • Butt and Parallel Connectors – 13 parts. Inline splices for joining two wires end to end.
  • Cord End Ferrules – 2 parts. Bootlace ferrules that stop a stranded conductor spreading under a clamp screw.

Choosing the right terminal

  • Wire size comes first. Every terminal is made for a stated conductor range and a crimp outside that range is the usual cause of a joint that heats up.
  • Stud or screw size fixes the tongue. Ordering a terminal whose hole is a size over the stud leaves the ring free to turn.
  • Insulation – nylon stands up to more handling and heat than vinyl; non-insulated terminals are used where a boot or heat-shrink goes over the joint.
  • The crimp tool matters as much as the terminal. A ratcheting die sized for the barrel is what makes the joint repeatable.

Quoting and quantities

Terminals are supplied loose, bagged or on reel depending on the family and the quantity. Tell us the conductor size, the stud or tab size, the insulation you want and the quantity, and we will quote from the families above. If nothing listed fits, say what the terminal has to do – we also quote lugs and ferrules that are not on the site. Please call for pricing and availability.
